Thursday Portland

The Air Museum at Tillamook, Oregon houses some amazing artifacts regarding aviation and WWII. We spent much time there perusing and soaking up information. I was unable to get a decent picture that could show the immenseness of this building. It was built in 1942 to hold 8 blimps for military use. One of the amazing bits about it is that because metals begin needed for the war effort, it was almost entirely constructed from wood, even the rain downspouts!!

The first is a P2V-7 Neptune. The second plane isn't a Zero. It is a Ki-43 Oscar and was used towards the end of the war in the Kamikaze flights. The third plane is a P-38 Lightning.
